But what is the lightest Shark Upright vacuum cleaner? In this post, we’re going to explore just that by looking at some of the lightest Shark Upright vacuum cleaners on the market.

1 – Shark Classic Upright Pet Vacuum NV602UKT: 5.25kg

The lightest Shark Upright vacuum cleaner available is the ever-popular Shark Classic Upright Pet Vacuum NV602UKT. This user favourite weighs an incredibly light 5.25kg making not only the lightest Shark upright available but also one of the lightest upright vacuum cleaners on the market full stop.

The Shark NV602UKT is (at the time of writing) the most popular Shark upright on the market and its easy to see why. At only 5.25kg it is super easy to manoeuvre and carry up and down the stairs when you need to. The NV602UKT version comes with a highly effective pet power brush which is perfectly suited to homes with four-legged friends as it’s designed to get rid of pet hair and dander from carpets and upholstery.

If 5.25kg is not light enough for you, the Shark NV602UKT also comes with Lift Away capability meaning you can switch it to the portable canister mode at which point you’ll only need to carry 3.8kg around with you. 

1 – Shark Classic Upright Vacuum NV602UK: 5.25kg

Tied up there in the number one spot is the Shark NV602UK which is pretty much the same as the Shark Classic Upright Vacuum NV602UKT but just without the pet power brush. 

If you want the lightweight feel of the 5.25kg Shark NV602UKT but do not really need the pet power brush than the Shark Classic Upright Vacuum NV602UK is a great option. 

You get all of the remaining benefits and it may also mean you find it easier to get one in stock given the popularity of the Shark Classic Upright Vacuum NV602UKT. 

Pet tool aside all the features are the same aside from the colour of the NV602UK which is Classic Blue compared to the red of the NV602UKT.

3 – Shark Lift-Away Upright Vacuum NV612UK: 5.4kg

Next on the list of the lightest Shark Upright vacuum cleaners is the highly impressive Shark NV612UK which weighs a featherweight 5.4kg. At this weight, most people will find it very easy to move it around the home and up the stairs when necessary.

But what’s even better is that you can make it even lighter by switching to the Lift-Away portable mode which allows you to use the Shark NV612UK like a lightweight canister vacuum. We find that the Lift Away mode is a real game changer on upright models, especially when vacuuming the stairs as it makes the whole process so much easier.

Aside from being very lightweight the Shark NV612UK comes with two floor modes allowing you to easily switch between cleaning carpets and hard floors.

As ever with these impressive Shark Lift-Away models, the NV612UK comes with attractive but also highly useful LED lights. These make a significant difference in our own experience when you are vacuuming those darker spots around the home where you don’t get a lot of light.

4 – Shark Lift-Away Upright Pet Vacuum NV612UKT: 5.65kg

If you like the look of the Shark NV612UK but need the pet power brush to deal with your four-legged friend then for just an extra 25 grams you can have the Shark NV612UKT model instead. With the Shark NV612UKT, you still get all of the same benefits that you do with the Shark NV612UK but with the added pet power brush.

5 – Shark Anti Hair Wrap Upright Pet Vacuum NZ690UKT: 6kg

The next lightest Shark upright vacuum cleaner in the range is the incredible Shark NZ690UKT, one our favourites. At just 6kg, the NZ690UKT still falls in the lightweight section (for comparison the lightest vacuum cleaner in the Numatic Henry hoover range is 6kg) but unlike the lighter Shark uprights above, this boasts 1.1L of capacity compared to 0.83L. This combination of a lightweight 6kg design coupled with a higher capacity provides you with an excellent option that can handle larger homes without the need for too many trips to the bin to empty out the dust canister.

To make things even better, the NZ690UKT is also equipped with Shark’s Lift-Away technology which results in a portable 3.8kg unit rather than the full 6kg when you need an even more flexible cleaning alternative. In our experience, this mode is wonderful for handling stairs and other areas such as ceilings and curtains where you need max flexibility.

As the NZ690UKT is a pet model, you get the Shark Pet power brush as well which is perfect if you share a home with a four-legged friend or two.

5 – Shark Anti Hair Wrap Upright Vacuum NZ690UK: 6kg

If you like the sound and the weight (6kg) of the Shark NZ690UKT but don’t necessarily need the Pet Power Brush then the Shark NZ690UK may be an excellent fit. This has the same weight (6kg) as well as all of the same features as the NZ690UKT but without the pet power brush. The colour is also different with the NZ690UK coming in teal whereas the NZ690UKT is provided in rose gold.

What’s also great about the Shark NZ690UK model is that it also has the Lift-Away functionality giving you a super-lightweight 3.8kg portable unit when you need it.

7 – Shark Classic Anti Hair Wrap Upright Vacuum NZ801UK: 6.5kg

Next up on the list of the lightest Shark Upright vacuum cleaners is the ever-popular Shark NZ801UK with Powered Lift-Away and Anti Hair Wrap technology weighing 6.5kg, though only 2.5kg when switching to the portable mode. Though the overall unit weight of 6.5kg is the least light on the list thus far of Shark upright vacuums, it also comes with more features than any of those so far.

The Shark NZ801UK has the signature Lift-Away but with an extra bonus in this area being the ‘Powered’ aspect. 

The Lift-Away comes in two types (i) standard (Lift-Away) where when the unit is lifted off the base you cannot use the main floorhead and instead need to make use of one of the accessories and (ii) the Powered Lift-Away where you can use the main powered brush head even in the portable mode giving you the full power of the machine. 

The Powered Lift-Away is particularly useful if you like the portable mode for more than just intricate areas like the stairs.

The Shark NZ801UK also features DuoClean Technology in the floorhead where two different types of motorised brush-rolls work together to give you complete flexibility across various floor types. 

On one side a bristle brush-roll works to clean deep into carpet fibres whilst on the other a second soft brush-roll is designed to pick up debris and stuck on dirt from hard floors without just pushing it out the way. 

These work in tandem so that you don’t have to keep stopping as you change floor types.

Another neat feature of the NZ801UK as with many other Shark Uprights is the Anti Hair Wrap technology which works to actively remove hair as its picked up by the brush-rolls rather than simply allowing it to get tangled up.

7 – Shark Classic Anti Hair Wrap Upright Pet Vacuum NZ801UKT: 6.5kg

The next model on the list of the lightest Shark upright vacuum cleaners is the pet version of the NZ801UK, the NZ801UKT which comes with all of the great features of the base model plus the Pet Power Brush. 

The NZ801UKT also weighs just 6.5kg and lightweight 2.6kg in its portable Powered Lift-Away mode. You also get the Shark NZ801UKT in navy and orange instead of white and orange.

Quote usefully the NZ801UKT is packed full of features that make it perfectly suited for homes with pets. The Pet Power Brush does an excellent job of getting into upholstery and carpet fibres to remove ground-in pet hairs and debris. You also then get Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap technology which works by actively removes pet hairs and others with a bristle-guard as you operate the machine. Lastly, to help you get rid of pet hair and dander in those awkward places like the sofa and stairs, you can switch to the Lift-Away mode giving you a truly lightweight 2.6kg portable unit to tackle everything your pet leaves behind.

9 – Shark Stratos Anti Hair Wrap Plus Anti-Odour Upright Vacuum NZ860UK: 6.7kg

Next on the list when looking at the lightest Shark upright vacuum cleaners is the impressive 3-speed Shark Stratos NZ860UK weighing in at 6.7kg. This is the heaviest of the Shark models thus far on the list but is also one of the most advanced in terms of technology introduced by Shark.

Not content with Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap, this goes a step further with the Anti Hair Wrap Plus which is the advanced version of their anti hair wrap technology. 

In addition, the NZ860UK comes with a unique anti-odour feature using cartridge technology that allows you to select the intensity of the anti-odour and gives off a light scent as you operate the vacuum cleaner. This is designed to combat the unpleasant smells that can come from hair, dust and dander.

If the 6.7kg proves too heavy for you in the upright setting, you have the option of switching to lightweight mode with the portable Powered Lift-Away. As it is a Powered Lift-Away you have the option of still using the main powered floorhead even in the portable canister mode.

9 – Shark Stratos Pet Pro Anti Hair Wrap Plus Anti-Odour Upright Vacuum NZ860UKT: 6.7kg

If you want the NZ860UK but also need the Shark Pet Power Brush then the NZ860UKT is way to go. This is the same weight 6.7kg as the NZ860UK shares the same features but comes with the highly effective Pet Power Brush tool which is designed to get rid of pet hair and debris from upholstery and carpet.

Though this is the heaviest of the pet Shark upright models on the list, it does also come with more features than the others. Going some way better than the other lighter pet models is the anti-odour technology which works to neutralise the bad smells that often come with pet hairs, dust and dander. These cartridges can last around 6 months and emit a light scent as you work your way around your home.

The Anti Hair Wrap Plus is another useful feature for pet owners as Shark state its their most advanced anti hair wrap technology yet.
